Theatre of War

British and Argentinian veterans who fought on opposite sides in the Falklands, or Malvinas, war come together. Thirty five years have passed since the fighting. They talk, rehearse and act out their own memories together. The film is built as an essay on how war can be represented. What is staged is not a history lesson but the act of remembering itself. Former enemies being in the same room is what produces the real tension of the account. That the war carries two different names in the two countries also shows the ground of this meeting. Marcelo Vallejo, Lou Armour, Rubén Otero and David Jackson are among those in the film. Lola Arias’s seventy three minute film, a joint German, Argentine and Spanish production, was completed in 2018.
