Thick Skinned

Gerard and his wife Annie have made a decent life for themselves on their farm. That life comes apart when Gerard’s older brother Roland turns up; Annie did not even know the brother existed. Years earlier the two of them set fire to a barn while drunk and caused the death of a traveller sleeping inside. Roland took the whole of the blame and served ten years in prison. Now he wants those years paid back to him by his brother. Gerard, who had managed to put the thing out of his head, cannot manage his conscience this time, and because he loves both his brother and his wife he does not know what to do. Sandrine Bonnaire and Jean-Francois Stevenin appear in Patricia Mazuy’s eighty four minute French film, completed in 1989.
