Thillana Mohanambal

Mohanambal is a classical dancer. She works in bharatanatyam. Shanmugasundaram plays the nadaswaram. Both of them are known on the stage. Their paths cross at temple festivals. At first there is rivalry between them. Then that rivalry turns into something else. But her family is against the match. Her mother favours another suitor. The suitor is a wealthy man. Interests and gossip work their way in. The account is set in the Kaveri region. It comes from the novel by Kothamangalam Subbu. Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini take the leads, with T. S. Balaiah and Manorama also in the cast, in A. P. Nagarajan’s Indian film of 1968.
