The film is about a Danish family that suffers a heavy loss during the Second World War. After the men of the family are gone, those left behind are alone with their grief and with the necessity of carrying on daily life; the house, the fields and relations with neighbours all have to be borne at once. The account builds no scenes of heroism; what it really looks at is how ordinary and how hard the work of staying standing after a loss turns out to be. The frame of the film rests on hope and faith, and that view is the film’s own. It is the second film in a series. Bodil Jorgensen appears in Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis’s hundred and twenty three minute Danish film, completed in 2022.
