This Summer Will End

Vladimir Munkuev's 2025 Russian film follows Kesha, back in his village after prison. He wants to build a quiet life; his brother, seventeen, is planning to study, and for a while their paths run together. Things change when Kesha joins a gold-mining crew. The work does not look legal and the money comes fast; the narrative shows this not as a moral choice but as the only road that appears to be open. Yura Borisov leads. Landscape and climate are decisive within the narrative; the camera keeps its distance and the violence is abrupt. The film gives provincial life in Siberia without decoration. Who it's for: those who like Russian provincial drama and narratives about brothers. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a hopeful close; the film leaves its characters little room.
