What Three Fat Men Is About
In a fairy tale country, power is held by three Fat Men until the boy heir Tutti comes of age. Against them stand Tibul the tightrope walker, Prospero the armourer and the working people, helped by the kindly Doctor Gaspar and by Suok, a brave young acrobat. To reach Prospero, Suok has to get inside the palace, and the only way she can do it is by passing herself off as a doll. Adapted from Yuri Olesha's book, the film opened on 18 November 1966 and was made at Lenfilm. It was directed jointly by the actor Aleksey Batalov and Iosif Shapiro, with Batalov also appearing in it. It looks like a children's film and is plainly about an uprising.
