What Three Godfathers Is About
Three bandits rob the bank in a town called New Jerusalem. After a gunfight with the townspeople they retreat into the Arizona desert, where they come across a sick woman stranded with her baby. As she dies she leaves the child to them. They want to save the baby, and the only way to do it is to go back to New Jerusalem, where they are wanted men. Directed by Richard Boleslawski for MGM, the film was adapted from a story by Peter B. Kyne, with a screenplay by Edward E. Paramore Jr. and Manuel Seff. Chester Morris, Lewis Stone and Walter Brennan play the three. It opened in March 1936, and John Ford remade it in 1948.
