Three of Hearts: A Postmodern Family

Sam meets Steven when he is in his early twenties. Steven is a student of nineteen at the time. The two of them fall in love. Years later Sam brings a proposal. He wants to take a woman in with them. She would love them both and agree to live as a trio. The search takes them seven years. In the end they meet Samantha. She is a young actress. The three of them begin to live together. They work out the household, the money and the boundaries themselves. People around them struggle to understand the arrangement. The documentary filmed them over eight years. After thirteen years the relationship ends, and it ends hard. Sam Cagnina and Samantha Singh speak in the ninety five minute documentary. It is an American production Susan Kaplan finished in 2005.
