Thunder Soul

Kashmere High School is a school in Houston. In the seventies there was a music teacher there. His name was Conrad O. Johnson. The school had a ragged jazz band. Johnson rebuilt it from the ground up. Before long the band was playing funk. The arrangements were their own. They became known across the country. Thirty five years go by. The former students come back together. What they want is to play one concert for their teacher. The man is very old now. The rehearsals are hard, since none of them has played in years. The documentary follows that preparation. Conrad O. Johnson Sr. and his former students appear in the eighty three minute documentary, an American production Mark Landsman finished in 2010.
