What Touchback Is About
Fifteen years ago Scott Murphy was the best high school football player in Ohio; he won the game of his life and wrecked his knee in the same game. College and a professional career ended there. Now he farms, he is in debt, and the film opens on him trying to take his own life. Then he finds himself back in that week fifteen years earlier. Kurt Russell plays the coach. It is sold as an uplifting sports film, but the suicide attempt at the start can catch an unprepared viewer badly. Predictable, sentimental, and preachy in places.
