What Travis: The True Story of Travis Walton Is About
On 5 November 1975 a logging crew in Arizona said they saw a bright light on the road home. Travis Walton got out of the truck and walked toward it; the others said he was knocked down by a beam of light and drove off in panic. He could not be found for five days, then turned up at a petrol station saying he had been held aboard a craft. Jennifer Stein's 2015 documentary is built around Walton's account and around crew members who have not changed their statements in fifty years. The record also holds what stands against it: the first polygraph Walton sat, on 15 November 1975, produced a report of deception, and sceptics have pointed to the penalty clause in the crew's logging contract. The tests closed the matter in neither direction.
