Truant School

The year is 1920, in a small village in Provence. When the young teacher Monsieur Pascal walks into the classroom he sees that the children have no interest in the lessons at all, and he decides to change the methods of his predecessor from the root. He listens to the children, sets out from the things they are curious about and carries the lesson outside the classroom into the open. The pupils find the pleasure of learning again, and he finds the pleasure of teaching. But some parents and notables in the village do not care for this small revolution, and the matter soon leaves the school and becomes the town’s business. Bernard Blier appears in Jean-Paul Le Chanois’s eighty nine minute French film, completed in 1949.
