Truth In 24 II: Every Second Counts

The documentary follows one year of the twenty four hour race at Le Mans from inside the Audi team. When two Audi R18 TDI cars go out after heavy accidents, the single remaining car is left alone against three Peugeot 908s. The account builds that struggle hour by hour and ends with a win taken by a margin of thirteen seconds. The film says the race was a tenth victory for Audi; this is a production made for a car manufacturer and its view is from inside the team. Radio traffic, work in the pits and the sleepless hours of the drivers are shown from inside the team. The rival team is largely seen from outside rather than heard in its own voice. Jason Statham reads the text throughout. Rob Gehring’s eighty two minute American documentary was completed in 2012 and follows an earlier film about the 2008 race.
