Tuhog

Veronica Velasco's 2013 Filipino film follows the crash caused by a race between two buses. Three passengers end up pierced by the same metal rod. The film divides the wait at the hospital into three lives: a middle-aged woman, a retired patriarch and a young man. The narrative gives each past as its own section, and the crash is all they share. Eugene Domingo appears. The tone moves between comedy and drama. The crash itself is kept brief. Who it's for: those who like Filipino cinema and multi-strand narratives. Who it's not for: viewers for whom scenes of serious injury would be difficult.
