Two Captains II

The film looks like a documentary but is not one. It is built from beginning to end on a joke. Its title suggests the sequel to a famous novel on screen. In fact it has nothing to do with that book. Part of the audience worked this out in the cinema. The film is assembled from old archive footage. A serious narration is laid over the images. The narration imitates the language of science. It runs through events from the start of the twentieth century. The revolution in Russia, chaos, explorers. Then the claims turn thoroughly absurd. A second sun appears in the sky. Captains keep the balance of history. Rock musicians of the period appear in it. Sergei Kuryokhin and Boris Grebenshchikov are the first among them. The seventy minute film was widely shown at festivals, a Russian production Sergey Debizhev finished in 1992.
