Three Friends

Murat, Mistik and Artin are three poor friends living in an abandoned old mansion; they get by on odd jobs in the streets. One night they come upon a blind girl selling things on the street and take Gul back to the house. Because she cannot see they convince her that they are very rich, and then have to keep the game going. From then on their only concern is her happiness; Murat has fallen in love with her, and the friends set about finding the money for an operation that would restore her sight. The film tells poverty without asking pity and without exalting their solidarity either. Fikret Hakan and Muhterem Nur appear in Memduh Un’s eighty eight minute Turkish film, completed in 1958.
