Kanlı Nigar

In Ottoman times, a woman named Nigar moves into an ordinary neighbourhood. She fell into the trade long ago, and now she opens a brothel here. But she did not choose the street at random. She has come back for an account of what was done to her here years earlier, when she was an innocent girl. The men of standing in the neighbourhood visit the house and are ashamed to be seen near her in the street. One by one, Nigar brings all of them in front of her. A film that starts like a coarse comedy hardens steadily. Memduh Ün directs, adapting Sadık Şendil's play, with Fatma Girik as Nigar and Kemal Sunal as one of the men of the neighbourhood. Eighty-one minutes. One of Girik's most remembered performances.
