Uncle Vanya

The work is a recording of Chekhov’s play. The events take place over a hot summer. The place is a run-down farmhouse in the country. Sonya and her uncle Vanya live there. Their days pass idle and without event. They are alone and cut off from the world. The only visitor who comes now and then is Astrov. Astrov is the doctor of the district. His visits change the air of the house. The play was staged in London at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The run closed early because of the pandemic. The recording was made in the empty house in the summer of 2020. Conor McPherson wrote the adaptation, and Toby Jones, Richard Armitage and Roger Allam appear in Ian Rickson’s British production of 2020.
