Underwater Impressions

The documentary was filmed under water. The images come from coral reefs. The work was done in different seas. The camera follows the fish closely. The colours of the reef come to the front. There is no plot in the telling. The film moves through image and music. The director made the dives herself. Leni Riefenstahl completed this film late in life. It is the result of thirty years of underwater filming. It was shown a few days before her hundredth birthday. Riefenstahl had earlier made propaganda films for the Nazi regime. That past has always been argued over around her name. The underwater work covers the last part of her life. Leni Riefenstahl appears in the forty four minute documentary. It is a German production finished in 2002.
