Vadakkunokkiyantram

Thalathil Dineshan marries a beautiful woman but does not think himself worthy of her. That sense of inadequacy turns first into excessive attention, then into jealousy, and then into reading everything wrong. Who his wife looks at, who she talks to, what she wears are all constantly counted up. Everyone around them sees what is happening and nobody can stop the man. Sreenivasan wrote, directed and played Dineshan; it was his first film as a director. It is counted among the best loved black comedies in Malayalam cinema and was named best film at the Kerala state awards. The comedy is merciless, but its target is the husband and not the wife; the ridiculousness of jealousy and its destructiveness are shown at the same time. Parvathy plays the woman, with KPAC Lalitha and Innocent in supporting parts.
