What Waiting for Dali Is About

In 1974 two brothers who cook, Fernando and Alberto, flee Barcelona and arrive in the Costa Brava village of Cadaqués, where they find work in a restaurant. Its eccentric owner Jules has one dream, to get Salvador Dalí, who lives in the village, to sit at his table one day. As the paths of the painter and the cook cross, something else entirely is born in the kitchen. David Pujol’s hundred and fourteen minute Spanish film was largely inspired by the origin story of El Bulli, and the director had previously made two documentaries about Dalí. José Garcia plays Jules, with Ivan Massagué, Clara Ponsot, Paco Tous and Nicolas Cazalé in the cast. The film treats cooking as an art form in its own right.
