Wheels

Two men in wheelchairs. Both are paralysed from the waist down, both use, and neither can find a reason to keep going. They get through their days in the city: finding money, finding a fix, dealing with people, putting up with each other. What is between them is not friendship; each knows the other keeps him where he is. The film promises no salvation and does not ask for pity on their behalf either; it just shows how a day goes. Tim Gagliardo directs the American film; a hundred and fifteen minutes, with Donavon Warren in the lead, who also wrote it. It is an independent production. It tries to tell addiction and a disabled life at the same time, and while doing so refuses to turn its characters into examples.
