Oopiri

Vikramaditya is a billionaire paralysed from the neck down. Looking for a carer, he meets Seenu, out on parole. Seenu does not want the job; he came only to get a signature. Vikram hires him for exactly that indifference: he is the first person who has shown no pity. Vamshi Paidipally's film adapts The Intouchables, the 2011 French film by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache. The adaptation moves the class difference into an Indian context and centres on the two men changing each other. It was shot in both Telugu and Tamil and opened on 25 March 2016. Nagarjuna plays Vikram and Karthi plays Seenu, with Tamannaah completing the cast. Who it's for: Viewers who like friendship-driven drama, and anyone who liked the French original and is curious about the local version. Who it's not for: There are no surprises left for those who know the original, and the adaptation runs longer. Disability is also used at points as an emotional device.
