What Wheels Is About
Nemanja has a steady job and a fiancée, and his life runs quite ordinarily until a sudden downpour strands him in a seedy hotel called The Wheel. The people staying there look respectable enough at first, and then Nemanja is accused of being the serial killer known as the Laughing Monster who has been terrorising the district. It was Đorđe Milosavljević’s first film, and he holds the tone between black comedy and thriller: bloody, airless and absurd at once. A single night in a closed building turns into an interrogation where who anyone is keeps changing. It opened in October 1998 and took a prize at the Sochi festival in 2000.
