What Who Killed Pixote? Is About
The film tells the true story of the boy who became known for playing the lead in Pixote in 1981. After the shooting ended he tried to go on acting but could find no other work; once the camera was off, he went back where he came from. In time he was drawn into crime and turned into a name in a police file. That is why the question in the title is put not to a single person but to a whole arrangement that found a child, used him and let him go. The real person died at nineteen, in an incident with the police. Jose Joffily’s hundred and twenty minute Brazilian film was completed in 1996.
