What Blue Eyes Is About
Marshall, the chief immigration officer at JFK Airport, detains a group of Latin Americans the day before his compulsory retirement and humiliates them for hours. What happens that day ends in the death of a young Brazilian, and the man goes to prison. When he comes out he is gravely ill; he travels to Brazil and tries to find the young man’s family. The way is opened for him by a young woman named Bia. The film shows racism not as a flaw of character but as something that works inside an institution.
