Who's Camus Anyway?

The film is set at a university in Tokyo. There is a film workshop in the literature department. The students are shooting a film as part of the course. The film they are making has its title. Its subject was taken from a real case. A schoolboy had killed an elderly woman. The boy gave curiosity as his reason. Their professor ties the case to a novel. The novel is Camus’s The Stranger. The comparison sets off an argument in class. Meanwhile the lead actor drops out. The team looks for a replacement at the last minute. The search itself turns into a story. Ai Maeda and Shuji Kashiwabara take the leads, with Meisa Kuroki also in the cast, in Mitsuo Yanagimachi’s Japanese film of 2005.
