What Yaadon Ki Baaraat Is About
Three brothers are separated after their parents are killed by a gang. Years pass. One becomes a singer, one turns down another road, one disappears. The only thing left between them is a song they always sang together as children. Years later that song is heard again. Nasir Hussain directed the film from a screenplay by Salim and Javed. It is taken as the first example of what Indian cinema calls the masala film: action, drama, romance, music and crime in the same picture. Zeenat Aman and Neetu Singh came to the front with it. Aamir Khan appears here as a child actor.
