You Are My Home

The film is about a heartbroken woman and a young immigrant girl who lost her mother at the border coming together just before Christmas. Both are inside their own loss and both find it hard to ask for help. The more the woman takes on the care of the child, the more she has to face the emptiness in her own life. The account handles the subject with the warmth of a holiday story, but it does not look away from what the child has lost. The bond between them is not made quickly; both sides have to learn to trust again. The account does not set up an arrangement in which the woman only gives and the child only receives; each of them gives the other something. Alyssa Milano appears in Amanda Raymond’s ninety two minute American film, completed in 2020.
