You Are Not Alone: Fighting the Wolf Pack

This 2024 documentary, co-directed by Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar, concerns the gang rape case that took place during the San Fermin festival in 2016. The name the five defendants used among themselves became how the case was known publicly. At the centre is the trial. The first court's ruling treated the incident as a lesser offence rather than rape, and that decision produced mass protests in Spain, leading eventually to a change in the country's consent law. The film keeps the survivor's identity protected while placing her testimony at the centre; lawyers, journalists and the women who took to the streets also speak. It uses no footage from the case file and stages no reconstruction, a deliberate ethical choice. Who it's for: those able to watch documentaries about law and social movements. Who it's not for: viewers who need to avoid accounts of sexual violence; the documentary relays the testimony in detail.
