Veysel is a boy of twelve. His family has had to leave their country. Together they migrate to Austria. Fitting into the order of the new country is not easy. Not knowing the language makes everything harder. Troubles inside the family grow as well. Veysel is the one who feels the weight of it most. At school he has fallen for his classmate Ana. He wants to tell her what he feels. His German is not up to it. His neighbour Cem helps him. The man teaches the boy to recite a poem in German. Veysel gathers his courage to say it to her. Just then the immigration police step in. What the boy had imagined is cut short.
