What Your Next Life Is About
In the closed and traditional Pas Valley in Cantabria, a fight over the calf of a prize milk cow ends with one dairy farmer dead and the other afraid of being arrested. He and his daughter Val decide to keep the cause of death quiet. But when Val is drawn to Rai, the dead man’s son, a hairdresser in the city who was estranged from his father, the tension grows and old family accounts are opened. Manuel Gutierrez Aragon’s film is not a murder mystery; it is a story about how much damage silence can do inside a family.
