Zero 2

A Lithuanian crime comedy. The story runs through several groups tangled up with each other in Vilnius: small-time gangsters, ordinary people who find themselves inside the business, and nobody who actually has control of it. A job goes wrong, everyone starts chasing everyone else, and the plot grows deliberately toward the absurd. It is the sequel to Emilis Vėlyvis's Zero from 2006 and became one of the most watched domestic productions in Lithuania at the time. The style leans openly on the British and American crime comedies of the nineties: fast cutting, overlapping storylines, hard violence used as comedy. For local audiences the real draw was seeing Lithuania's own everyday reality on screen in that register for the first time. Seen from outside, the manner is borrowed while the material is its own.
