What Zinda Bhaag Is About
Three friends are in their early twenties. Their names are Khaldi, Taambi and Chitta. They live in a neighbourhood in Punjab. Their lives have stalled where they are. The only way out, as they see it, is to the West. Khaldi is aiming at Birmingham. His uncle runs a minicab business there. His mother pushes him towards it. His visa is refused. His girlfriend Rubina is making her own way, which sharpens his sense of failure, and he gets into gambling. The story is told by Pehlwan, the man who runs the area. What the film is about is illegal migration. Naseeruddin Shah and Amna Ilyas appear in the hundred and fifteen minute film, a Pakistani production Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi finished in 2013.
