What Zoo in Budapest Is About
Zani is an odd young man who has spent his life in the zoo in Budapest; his real friends are the animals there. He meets Eve, an orphan girl, and the two of them fall for each other. For them to be together Eve has to escape the strict orphanage where she is kept. When she does, the two have to spend the night hiding in the zoo while everyone is out looking for them. The film uses the zoo as a refuge and shows that neither of the young pair has a place in the world outside. Loretta Young plays the lead in Rowland V. Lee’s ninety four minute American film, completed in 1933.
