The Guilty Generation

The film is set in the New York of the nineteen thirties. Two criminal families are at war with each other. On one side stands the Palmero family. On the other side stands the Ricca family. Maria, the daughter of Mike Palmero, meets a young architect. He introduces himself under another name. He is in fact Marco Ricca, the son of his father’s rival. The two of them fall in love. They have to keep the affair hidden. Then they marry in secret. The feud between the families goes on. The young pair try to shake off the reputation of their parents. The past does not let go of them, though. The story carries Romeo and Juliet into the criminal world. Violence and love stand in the same scene. Leo Carrillo and Constance Cummings appear in the eighty two minute film, an American production Rowland V. Lee finished in 1931.
