Sergio Castellitto

Sergio Castellitto plays Ugo in Jacques Rivette's Va savoir. In the British Film Institute archive the notice on that film holds that its actresses dominate it and describes the men, him among them, as talented but less exciting. On the same reading that dominance conceals a conventional scheme of gender, the men paired with high culture and the women with art or with food, and his character is placed on the governing and managing side of it. The archive carries his name on that page alone; Mostly Martha and The Big Blue, both of which sit in his catalogue, are never reviewed there.
