The Great Pumpkin

Twelve-year-old Pippi has epileptic seizures. An administrative error puts her in the psychiatric ward instead of the neurological one. Arturo, the doctor there, does not send her back; he thinks what is actually wrong with her lies somewhere else. Pippi's family, a father who listens to nobody and a mother who says nothing, are part of the problem. The doctor is a man who has not put his own life together either. Francesca Archibugi's film takes its starting point from Marco Lombardo Radice, who founded child psychiatry in Italy, with Sergio Castellitto as Arturo. The title comes from the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown waits for, and so does the inner world the child builds.
