Shooting the Moon

Siddharta is a boy of fourteen. He has had to behave older than his age. His mother Silvia uses heroin. His father is nowhere to be seen. The weight of the house is on the boy. He has a little sister. She is called Domitilla and is four. One day the girl pricks her finger on a needle. It is one of the needles his mother used. Nobody notices at the time. Siddharta does not know what to do. He looks for a way on the internet. He is told to have her tested for hepatitis and AIDS. So he begins going from hospital to hospital. Some adults help him and some take no interest. Valeria Golino and Sergio Rubini take the leads in Francesca Archibugi’s Italian film of 1998.
