Paul Crowder's documentary covers Formula One's deadliest period, narrated by Michael Fassbender. It starts in the late sixties, with engines doubled in size, wings bolted onto the cars, speeds climbing and safety barely existing. Some seasons killed more than one driver. The spine of the story is how safety had to be fought for. When Jackie Stewart demanded it he was not welcomed within the sport; he was called a coward, lost supporters, and kept pushing anyway. The film presents that resistance as more than heroism, showing a sport into which sponsorship money and a television audience were pouring, selling its own danger as the product. It closes with Ayrton Senna's death in 1994, which stood for years as the last fatality during a Formula One race. Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher and Mario Andretti are among those interviewed.
