What 20 Cigarettes Is About

Aureliano is twenty-eight, an anarchist and against the war. He is offered a job in Iraq as assistant director on a film the director Stefano Rolla is making about the Italian military mission. He takes it. Shortly afterwards, on 12 November 2003, the Italian base at Nasiriyah is bombed. Nineteen Italians are killed, Rolla among them. Aureliano, badly wounded, is the only civilian to survive. Aureliano Amadei directed the film himself, adapting the book he wrote with Francesco Trento. Vinicio Marchioni plays him. What it is about is not the war but the return of the one who came back from it alive.
