What 3 Days in Quiberon Is About
Quiberon, on the coast of Brittany, in 1981. Romy Schneider has withdrawn to a spa hotel, and her old friend Hilde Fritsch comes to keep her company. Then a journalist and a photographer arrive from the German magazine Stern, and over three days the interview keeps pushing at the line between confiding and being exposed. Emily Atef builds the film out of Michael Jürgs's conversation with Schneider and Robert Lebeck's photographs of it, and shoots in the same black and white. Marie Bäumer plays Schneider from the inside rather than as an impersonation. The film took seven Lolas at the German Film Awards in 2018.
