What 32nd of December Is About
Three episodes, one question: how relative time actually is. Luciano De Crescenzo, the Neapolitan engineer who became a popular writer on philosophy, directs the film and appears in it himself, doing what he always did in his books, which was to drag philosophy out of the textbook and into ordinary conversations between ordinary people. The same stretch of time is endless for one person and already gone for another, and the film asks that three times over. Enzo Cannavale, Benedetto Casillo and Sergio Solli, familiar faces from Neapolitan cinema, fill out the cast. Readers of De Crescenzo will recognise the tone at once.
