What 42nd Street Memories: The Rise and Fall of America's Most Notorious Street Is About
The documentary is about a street in New York. The street is 42nd Street. For a time it was lined with cinemas. Cheap and out of the way films played in those houses. The audience was large and mixed. Crime was widespread around it as well. Over the years the street ran down. Then the district was rebuilt. What came out of it was called the New 42nd Street. People who lived through that period speak in the film. Directors and performers tell it. Joe Dante is among them. Most of those cinemas closed later on. The account ends with the street as it stands today. Roy Frumkes is among those speaking as well. Matt Cimber and Veronica Hart appear in the eighty two minute documentary, a British production Calum Waddell finished in 2015.
