A Balance

Yuko works as a documentary director. She is preparing a piece for television. The subject is something that happened at a school. A relationship between a student and a teacher came to light. The affair ended in two deaths. Two families were broken apart afterwards. Yuko is trying to set out what happened. She also teaches at her father’s cram school. She notices that one of her students, Mei, is in trouble. She stays close to the girl and helps her. Then a similar matter surfaces in her own circle. Yuko comes face to face with the principle she defends in public. She is caught between showing the truth and keeping quiet. The film questions the ethics of her own trade. Kumi Takiuchi and Yuumi Kawai appear in the one hundred fifty two minute film, a Japanese production Yujiro Harumoto finished in 2021.
