A Beautiful Life

Elliott is a Danish fisherman who lost his family in an accident, has no money, and whose only asset is his voice. Singing at a club as a favour to a friend, he is noticed by Suzanne, a music manager, who puts him to work with her estranged daughter Lilly, a producer. Success arrives fast and he is prepared for neither the fame nor for Lilly. Mehdi Avaz builds it as a musical drama and never strains the template: discovery, rise, and the past coming back. The Danish singer Christopher takes his first lead and performs the songs himself. Netflix released it in June 2023. The songs are the strongest element and the script is predictable. Who it is for: viewers who like musical romance and song-driven films. Who it is not for: anyone wanting an original story, since the shape is familiar throughout.
