A Buddha

Two brothers whose parents were taken away by soldiers in Argentina in the seventies were left orphaned as children. Tomas is now a withdrawn young man who keeps to himself; he is trying out a severe way of living and takes on other people’s troubles without being asked. His older brother Rafael teaches philosophy at a university and lets nobody near him. The relation each of them has with the other and with Buenos Aires changes in an unexpected way when they meet at a Zen centre out in the country. The film is about how a loss turns into two separate lives. The silence of the two brothers stands like two separate languages for the same loss. Carolina Fal appears in Diego Rafecas’s hundred and fifteen minute Argentine film, completed in 2005.
