Ayla: The Daughter of War

A Turkish soldier serving in the Korean War finds a small girl left alone in a village after a battle. He brings her back to his unit and the unit raises her. The film keeps the war itself in the background; the narrative concentrates on the months they spend together and on the inevitability of separation. The second half jumps forward many years.
