What A Day on the Planet Is About
Masamichi is about to begin postgraduate study. He will be leaving his flat in Kyoto. Before he goes he holds a farewell dinner. He invites six friends. All of them are students and know one another. The evening goes on with food and drink. The talk is scattered and everyday. Old matters between them work their way in. Who feels what for whom is all there on the table. Other things are happening in the city the same night. A whale has washed up on the shore. A thief has got himself stuck between two buildings. That news arrives through the radio and through conversation. The film tells one night rather than any large event. Rena Tanaka and Satoshi Tsumabuki appear in the hundred and ten minute film, a Japanese production Isao Yukisada finished in 2004.
