A Decent Man

Eddie lives apart from his wife and sees his son Noam now and then. One night he is attacked in the street and badly hurt. Lying in hospital he becomes a hero to his son and a victim to his wife, and both of them come back to him. The police produce a suspect named Ahmed. Eddie identifies him. Then he realises he is not certain, and by now taking it back would mean losing everything he has just got back. While Ahmed's case proceeds, Eddie chooses to say nothing. Emmanuel Finkiel directs; a hundred and seven minutes, with Nicolas Duvauchelle as Eddie, Driss Ramdi as Ahmed and Mélanie Thierry in the cast. The film describes racism not by raising its voice but through one man staying quiet.
